Bad News from the Stock Markets

This past week or two we've all been hit with bad financial news, and according to my broker, folks have been selling out in droves.

My own view of the stock market was formed early, by my father. According to what he told me, when I first asked what the stock market was, he replied, "A place where people lose money." I was probably five or six at the time.

Later he did share more on his investment philosophy, but part of his success was because he kept very up-to-date on the financial news. Back then, that meant reading the financial pages of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal every morning. Now a days, if he were still alive, he'd probably have a laptop glued to his wrist.
